Problem

The company had a number of warehouses serving the UK with product originating in mainland Europe as well as the UK. These warehouses were no longer sufficient to meet the needs of the expanding business.

Action

An optimisation study was undertaken to identify new locations to provide a lower cost operation whilst still maintaining or improving customer service.

Result

The ideal locations for the warehouses were identified generating a potential saving in distribution costs of 30% and allowing an increase in customer service.
