Planning Health Check

Introduction

A planning health check is an evaluation of planning processes and systems. It can cover all aspects of planning in terms of demand planning & forecasting, supply planning & scheduling, inventory planning etc.

It is carried out by discussions, interviews and comparison of processes and systems against best practice. Where a gap in performance is identified then improvement plans are defined.

Objectives

The objective of the health check is to ensure that the planning processes and systems meet the needs of the business both now and for the future. As part of this objective improvement plans will be suggested.

Tools

The Planning Health Check is mainly qualitative but inventory planning and run strategy tools may be used to illustrate improvements that are possible or to identify capability improvements that are necessary.
